Arsenal’s Van Persie Heading For Inter?

There’s just no getting away from Mourinho. Whatever country he happens to be in it seems he just can’t stay out of the headlines. Still, at least this time his search for players has finally been reported as being a little wider than SW6. Sadly for Arsenal though, he’s still scouting around London and rumour has it, the former Chelsea manager has got Robin van Persie in his sights.

According to the Italian press, Mourinho has named Van Persie as a potential target amid rumours that the Dutchman is looking for a way out of the Emirates this summer. The Nerazzurri are definitely on the look out for wingers and Van Persie’s versatility is looked upon favourably by Mourinho who’s under pressure to deliver European success. And if the offer of double his current salary is looked on as favourably by Van Persie, then Arsenal could see themselves losing one of their biggest assets.

Injuries aside, I reckon he could’ve done a good job at Chelsea. Whereas Anelka whinged like a bitch when required to adopt an unorthodox role, Van Persie’s versatility allows him to play not only as a striker, but on either wing just as effectively. In fact, it’s not unknown to see him turn defenders inside out whichever position he takes up. And he ain’t half bad with a free-kick either.

He’s still only 24 and the reported price tag of £15million plus, would see a minimum return of £12million on the 2004 signing.

So given all that, if he actually wanted to go, would Arsenal let him?

  1. Why does this blog focus on Arsenal so much?

Anyway he recently said he wants to stay for years to win things, he said he’s discussing a new contract with us and this rumour just came from nowhere like most Mourinho rumours.

Wenger’s said he’s gonna keep the squad together so don’t expect anyone apart from Hleb and possibly Gilberto to be leaving.

You just don’t wanna see him playing against you isn’t it? Don’t worry he’ll probably be injured anyway.

  2. BULLSHIT!!!

  3. Van Persie is probably one of the most loyal Arsenal players, although that aint saying much as far asplayers are these days!

He has missed most of thye last 3 seasons coz of jnuries as well, so I can’t really see Mourinho going for him.

£15 million would be a massive amount for Robin, although when fit, he is a fantastic player.

  4. If he doesnt want to wear the famous red and white he can fuck off.

  5. He isn’t going anywhere. He said he’s discussing a new contract and wants to stay for years and win trophies and Wenger said he’s gonna keep the squad together.

As much as the media would love an Arsenal exodus, only Hleb and possibly Gilberto will be leaving.

You just don’t wanna see him playing against you isn’t it? Don’t worry he’ll probably be injured.

  6. I’m afraid if RVP and Ade were to leave Arsenal will struggle to score goals.Admittedly the money will be used to buy other players but it takes time for players to jel.
but you never know. Look at Torres. Assuming Arsenal get Villa will there be a 100% guarantee he would be another Torres. So it’s a gamble.
i remember the red nosed wanted to buy PV but Aw was nor that dumb to sell to hisbiggest rival.
now clubs with money want to buy the prinipal rivals’ best players to weaken them.
AW must not fall into the trap unless it’s a grossly inflated price.

  7. This sites obsession With London’s Greatest, most successful team in history, past present and future is quite something.

So for the third day running can someone tell me if anyone at Chelsea is sincerely happy at Scolari, a man with such little club management experience taking the job on? I mean its bit of a let down isnt it?

  8. No.

  9. Mourinho smells of salted cod, i couldnt work for the tramp.

  10. Haha good one. Van Pizzle is staying at the grove and, if he can stay fit for the season, expect to see him around the top of the goalscoring charts with ade at the end of the season. Whos gonna score your goals with Lampard and Drogba gone? Theres always le sulk ;-)

  11. where’s your aaron ramsey then?

  12. As much as the media would love an Arsenal exodus Van Persie ain’t going anywhere and said a few days ago that he’s discussing a new contract, but then so called ‘journalists’ decide write crap like this despite him saying that.

I remember when Adebayor’s Milan rumours started and he came out straight away and said he’s definitely staying, but on the next day the media start writing he’s demanding a massive contract etc.

This crappy journalism is really getting out of hand and I doubt there’s any truth to most rumours such as this one.

  13. I think I speak for all Arsenal fans here, we love VP. But the downside to him is the amount of time he spends out injured. If
Mourinho is seriously looking to pay 15 million for him, then as much as I hate to say it, i’d take the money and get someone else in. If he was fit for the last 5 months of the season then i’m sure we’d have held on to the lead we had in the premiership, but he seems to be made of glass.

To be completely honest though, I doubt there is any truth to this rumour whatsoever.

  14. Dont be silly click end, he says “reports in the italian press”. must be true lol

  15. Not a chance of RVP going, he is a Class Act and Wenger wont sell

  16. Can you imagine Van Persie, ultimate adherent of beautiful football playing for the vile anti-football Mourinho? It’d be like Madonna becoming a spokesman for the Vatican.

  17. this is a load of shit. RVP’s fragile but is a tremendous talent. Who could you buy to do what he does for 15 mil? Id want 20 for him despite his injuries.

  18. re: holloway harry.

scolari has much club experience, just not prem. do you know he won the south american version of champions league with 2 different clubs! or that he won the brazilian league maybe more than once, can’t be bothered to check tbh. although if you really want to know how how stupid your comment was you only need to see what grant achieved with no club exp really.

i suppose people said the same things about arsene though when he arrived as a skinny bespectacled french man with little exp in competetive leagues (j league is not in that bracket either).

in short, yes i am happy. scolari has managed with relative success where-ever he’s been with the biggest names in football (ronaldo x 2, rivaldo, ronaldinho etc etc etc) and i for 1 will be extremely suprised if scolari fails to impress in the prem.

  19. p.s. i’d just love it if RVP jumped ship now.

  20. I agree, i doubt there is any truth in that story!

  21. His playing stats are shocking, something like 45 games in 5 seasons!

  22. van persie is one of the best prayer in the world, plz Wenger dont allow Mourinho to take him.we need him to be with us next seasson.

  23. Holloway Harry – Sorry, I thought this was about RVP ?

There are subjects on Scolari if you’d actually look.

  24. he’s a good a player, but nothing like as good as my son John Terry.

    anyway the rumour isn’t true.

he’s quite a selfish player (in a good way)

not the worker ant robot drone favoured by Mourinho.

  25. RVP love to play attacking football like in Arsenal and the Holland national team.
Mourinho is a SPECIAL boring coach that does not know how to play attacking football. Even Roman sacked him for playing boring football. So,RVP going to Inter? No way.

  26. RVP is not going anywere….

  27. HAHAHAHAHA Brilliant! Whatever next, Exeter City in for Ronaldinho.

  28. ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Are you shitting yourselves that much about next season.

  29. I really hope it isn’t true but i would not be surprised to see RVP move on considering he is always injured and it would also pave thee way for Theo to get a full season in at the position he is best also £12m profit on a world class player doesn’t seem much but RVP being injured all the time makes it look good buisness for us imo.

And will people please stop with these hate agendas it’s getting pretty sad now….

Can people not read a well constructed topic about Arsenal without taking it as an insult ?

And if you are offended by reading this on a Chelsea blog what the hell are you doing on a Chelsea blog ?!?

    Peace !!!

  30. This blog is obsessed about Arsenal because, consciously or not, from Abramovich down to your most junior fan, Chelsea truly envy Arsenal. They envy our values, our history, our manager, our stadium, the sort of players we develop, and most of all the quality of football we play.Despite all their money they know they can t get our top players or our manager . Not a chance of getting Henry, Fabregas, Sagna, Adebayor. Would not even pretend to try to poach Wenger.
Yes they got Cole , but we could all see why. a gutless, mercenary, selfish ,adulterous, shagmeister like him made the journey West. In so many ways he was the perfect Chelsea buy. Puking up on some bimbo at a West London party, the shambolic presence of OK at his wedding, lying to his wife, leaving for a bigger bag of gold.
Was it Kroenke or Cole that Hill Wood was referring to when he said “we don t need that sort here”
There can be no other explanation why this site has more on Arsenal than all other clubs put together, more maybe than Chelsea itself. It makes it fascinating to me.
