Liverpool’s Gerrard Still Won’t Play For Mourinho

What is this apparent obsession Mourinho’s got with Gerrard? We’ve all seen how poor him and Lampard are together internationally and yet, having failed to bring him to Chelsea on two occasions, Jose’s now trying to lure him to Inter according to the rags. What I don’t understand though is why?

Firstly, we all know Jose wants Lampard playing for him again and Stevie Me has never done much for his game. Secondly, is he really that special? I mean ok, so he looks good here and there at Liverpool, but Torres aside, they’re hardly overrun with top players are they? Put him in a side full of real quality and I just wonder how good he’d look then.

I wonder what the lads at Inter would feel about the over-hit passes they haven’t got a hope in hell of getting on the end of? And that’s not to say he can’t pass the ball, because clearly he can, I just think there’s better passers of the ball out there, particularly for £30million anyway. Still, at least Inter would have Frank’s passing to fall back on.

I guess he might still be able to score the odd goal – when he’s taking a break from physio that is. Seriously, just how many injuries can one player have? Ankles, calfs, groin, metatarsals, toe-nails, you name it, he’s suffered it. Why would anyone be so desperate to sign a player who’ll spend half a season on his back? Didn’t Robben teach Jose anything?

But I guess it’s all irrelevant anyway, seeing as England’s saviour (according to the press at least) won’t be going anywhere. Be it lack of ambition or lack of balls to play anywhere he’s not top dog, Gerrard is rumoured to have turned down TSO’s advances yet again. Despite his continued disappointment at Liverpool’s failure to mount any real title challenge again last season (although you’d think he’d be used to that by now) coupled with the shambles in the boardroom, Gerrard obviously feels he can cope with the £120, 000 a week Liverpool hiked his wages up to (not that they could be accused of spending money of course).

Look on any Liverpool forum though and it’s a completely different picture painted of the hero who’s captained the club since 2003. Naturally, they’ll all tell you Saint Gerrard will never leave them, such is his commitment to the club. It’s amazing how the odd death threat and burned football shirt brings out the commitment in someone. So, offers or not, Gerrard will be staying at Liverpool (still awaiting his knighthood) because just in case anybody hasn’t heard this one already – next year will be their year.

  1. Liverpool fan here. Thanks for putting a smirk on my face. That was one of the funniest things ive read all day. Cheers.

  2. What a complete Arse you are.

Gerrards a far better player than Fat Frank, if you weren’t blinded by Chelsea arrogance you might actually realise that. Utter bollocks!

  3. Chelseadenise .. what a sour thing you are. Ya right, like you WOULDN’T want Gerrard in YOUR midfield .. shame, just cos poor little Chelsea AGAIN failed in Europe, you feel the need to strike out .. Stamford Bridge – Euro trophy free zone, now and forever.

  4. My god how bitter are you? Must be difficult being you.

  5. who ever wrote this article is one idiot !!!
gerrard is 10 times better than frank lampard and any other central midfielder you can name. he is undoubtably the best centre midfielder in the world and has been for quite some time. you chelsea fans are soo dosile and pathetic to think that anybody can even challenge gerrard for a place in a side ” full of real quality ” gerrard is as quality as you can get and a player only teams such as chelsea and inter can even dream of having.

  6. Ha, lampard is Bol*****

  7. lol……Its always “their” year.

As you said, he likes to see him self as BIlly Big Bollocks and its been shown on numerous times that Liverpool play better as a team with Gerrard missing. When he’s in the team he can take it upon himself to do everything himself. So he dragged them back in “Istanbul”…pat on the back, He will never truely be a great player with no league winners medals in his pocket. The bread and butter of every footballer. He seems happy in the comfort zone of the Kop wanking themselves silly over him with every touch he makes.

Then again…..he could fit into the Italian way of play as he’s prone to the odd case of balance deficiency….eh?

  8. If Inter had to fall back on Fat Franks passing they would SERIOUSLY be in trouble. Besides when Drogba leaves you’ll hardly be overrun with top players yourselves….

  9. Interesting “facts” in the post.

“Why would anyone be so desperate to sign a player who’ll spend half a season on his back? Didn’t Robben teach Jose anything?”

When last has Gerrard been injured for any length of time?

Anyone able to see things through blue tinted spectacles is simply masking a simple truth. You wish you had Steven Gerrard.

  10. Its funny and even entertaining, though is consistence with the way the chavs have looked at SG since he turned the Ruskies down. Lets be honest, this is about chavs being pissed off with him turning their larger than life club down. One day the chavs will grow to be a really big club and then they might not need this kind of insolence against their betters to make themselves feel better.

Keep it up, I always look forward to this kind of entertainment. It definitely means so much to me that you spend so much time considering us. YNWA

  11. What a laugh! chelseadenise.
This made my day! Thankyou so much.

“Put him in a side full of real quality and I just wonder how good he’d look then. ”

What are you on? He is the side of real quality!

  12. Oh bitter chelsea.

  13. lol…..you scousers….calm down…

This isnt about Chelsea. As long as he stays with Liverpool he’ll NEVER get a League winners medal.

  14. so gerrard looks good in a team lacking top players but in a team like inter “full of real quality” as you put it he’d struggle. How do you work that out? Inter, a team which we beat convincingly home and away just the past season. get a grip. one of the most pathetic things i’ve ever read.

  15. DAVE – you beat Inter convincingly with more than a little help from the ref. Would you have been so convincing without that sort of help? Your games against us would suggest not.

  16. Clubs with no history or pedigree should just stfu and stay with the little boys. Lets the big guys talk and chelsea can just sit at the side admiring the club they will never be. Only idiots can see fat frank is lazier and more stupid than any english players. See why he isn’t even in contention for the captain’s armband let alone the midfield role. Losing out to Beckham, Bentley and Barry. Yo chelsea fat frank looks decent only when he’s playing Derby and when he scores its bcuz quality players like j.cole, essien and drogba was there to provide him the ball.

  17. Blizt – isnt it a shame though when history is all you’ve got? Even Gerrard is smart enough to see its you lot sitting at the side now while United are creeping up on all your old records. You were right about one thing though, ‘only idiots can see fat frank is lazier and more stupid’. Lol.

  18. Quite a heavily biased article, contradiction where it says Gerrard can pass, then goes on about over hit passes and Lampard covering his ass. People like to compare the two, so I will as a fan of neither Chelsea or Liverpool. Consider this – swap the two players. Could you see Lampard dominating games for Liverpool? I doubt it. Could you see Gerrard scoring 20 goals for Chelsea? I could. Ive seen both players live, in the flesh, Gerrard is far superior in my opinion. Thats not to say Lampard is a bad player, of course he’s not, he’s improved year on year through hard work as opposed to natural ability i think. I reckon Gerrard has more a combination of both

The Stevie Me tag makes me smile too, Lampard is very self indulgent, the world cup was exaggerated proof, Frank couldnt hit a barn door with a pukka pie, despite numerous efforts, and Gerrard was top scorer I think

  19. Lupine, youre right, Lampard is self indulgent but then I havent said otherwise. I dont think its a contradiction to acknowledge Gerrard’s a good player but my question is more whether he’s a ‘great’ player. Frank hasnt stayed at one club so its easier to say he definitely looks better with the players round him at Chelsea than he did at West Ham. Since Gerrard is happy to stay at one club (or simply isnt allowed to leave), whats wrong with questioning how well he’d do somewhere else?
And the point about his passing was that whilst I don’t deny he can put in a few decent one’s – he’s not the picture of perfection scousers like to paint.

  20. Then again…..he could fit into the Italian way of play as he’s prone to the odd case of balance deficiency….eh???????

  21. “He will never truely be a great player with no league winners medals in his pocket.” – Aesthetic Relic

Does that mean Zola wasnt a great player?

  22. Lupine, he did that in italy.

  23. chelseadenise, Zola only made seven appearances in Napoli’s title winning season (probably a few as sub) Did he qualify for a medal? He wouldnt do in the current climate (unless one was awarded through sympathy)

Thats bye the bye anyway, I was trying to make the point that winning the league isn’t solely the benchmark of a great player, as it seemed Aesthetic Relic was trying to make out in Gerrards case. I think John O’Shea, Phil Neville and a few other substandard players have league winners medals, it doesn’t make them great

  24. Not all Liverpool fans “wank themselves silly” over Gerrard. Us Liverpool fans who see him week in, week out are fully aware that he’s far from perfect. We can also appreciate his qualities though and im sure thats why ‘TSO’, as you put it, has tried to sign him on so many occasions.

You obviously dont rate him….but Mourinho does. Whose opinion stands up the most?…i wonder?!

  25. I do nt think Gerrard has to go to 3rd rate Italy or Mourinho, to get what he so desperately craves. however, like us ,he must be wondering what his club need to do to get even a sniff of a league title. Got a top keeper, some world class defenders, Gerrard, and now Torres
He could never go to Man u, Chelsea would be so wrong, ditto the Milan clubs. So if he has to leave it s a 2 horse race between Barca and Arsenal, the only 2 clubs that would do justice to his brilliance.
Personally I cant see it, if ever the saying “he s got red in his blood” has relevance it is with Stevie gerrard and Liverpool.

  26. ‘Red in his blood’? Is this the same player who probably would’ve left Liverpool if he hadn’t taken so much stick from the supporters who love him so much?

  27. Whatever, you have to admit that he is just so above Chelsea! Had he joined he would have woken up one day, probably within a few weeks of joining , and just said “this is so wrong, I can t do it anymore”. It would be like Henry at Chelsea. Now I could see Adebayor there, maybe Van Persie. Oddly enough I think Henry could be tempted to Chelsea, but for all the wrong reasons.
