Chelsea To Battle For Defender?

Brazil defender Thiago Silva has been targeted by both Inter and AC Milan, although claims he has been offered a contract with Chelsea. Reports in Italy however, suggest a deal has been struck with Inter, although neither club has confirmed these stories.

Meanwhile, the player himself says “Nothing is sure yet.  Inter Milan, AC Milan and Chelsea have contacted my agent and made proposals. We will evaluate everything before making the right decision.  I want to go to a team where I will play in the first team because I want to continue being called up for the Brazil team.”

Just to complicate matters though, Robinho has apparently been putting in a word for the cantre-back at Man City and Silva says “Receiving praise from him brings me even more confidence and certainty that I am ready to build a solid future in European football. Besides being an ace on the field, I met Robinho with the national team and realised he is loved by all.  Even though he is young, he has already won several titles and is respected around the world. I don’t know if one day I will play in the same team as him, but I like the idea of it.”

Silva says he hasn’t been contacted by City although with his contract expiring this month, he’ll be available on a free transfer in January.
