Chelsea To Lose Valuable Asset?

Chelsea’s highly respected reserve team coach, Brendan Rodgers, is being linked with Aidy Boothroyd’s vacant post a Watford. Rodgers, who joined Chelsea from Reading, where he worked in the academy, was offered a job as Boothroyd’s assistant only last season, although decided to stay at Chelsea.

35 year old Rodgers was appointed by Jose Mourinho and is credited not only with putting the Portuguese manager’s diamond system into operation but also with playing a big part in Chelsea’s success at that time alongside TSO.

The Chelsea coach, who’s worked around first team training with Mourinho, Grant and Scolari, and is highly rated as an up-and-coming young coach. And as the man in charge of our reserves, has already learnt to manage his fair share of senior players at Chelsea.

Rodgers is said to have a ‘purist’s’ view on the game – a quality that has clearly appealed to Watford and the Hornet’s are said to be ready to make an approach for him. And despite no approach’s being forthcoming just yet, if Watford are as keen as they’re rumoured to be, and Rodger’s offered the opportunity to try his hand at being the main man, Scolari could have a battle on his hands to keep what would seem to be a very valuable asset at Stamford Bridge.
