Newsflash: Chelsea To Have A Full Squad Soon-ish!

At long last it looks as if we might get to see most of our first team – whatever that is these days – playing together in the not too distant future. Because the latest news seems to be that most of our walking wounded aren’t too far away from a return.

Michael Ballack, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Didier Drogba and Ricardo Carvalho are all reported to be there or there abouts now and even Michael Essien’s recovery is ahead of schedule.

Didier Drogba (knee), who didn’t put in an appearance at all at Ewood Park, could start against Burnley tonight, and Joe Cole (hamstring), another absentee for the Blackburn game is rumoured to be a possibility for tonight although a return at the weekend is more likely.

Ballack, who’s been missing for the past month after foot surgery, has returned to training and could return as early as the weekend’s game against West Brom. Ashley Cole (hamstring) is said to be close to full fitness and Ricardo Carvalho (hamstring) is expected to return to light training soon.

So that just leaves our long-term absentee, Michael Essien, although even the news on his recovery seems to be positive right now, with the suggestion that the midfielder could be back as early as January.

So, having struggled through without half our first team for much of the season anyway, with six away wins and 29 goals to our credit, Scolari could soon be in a position where he’ll have a more or less full squad to choose from.

It’ll never happen 🙂

  1. This is great news and why Scolari won’t need to spend money in January. I don’t think many people would have us at the top of the table right now considering all the injuries that we’ve gone through.
